Welcome to Pata Negra – A little slice of Spain in Brisbane!

At Pata Negra Tapas Bar we want to share an authentic, casual Spanish dining experience with Brisbane.  Simple!
The menus below show our TAPAS FAVOURITES and SPANISH PLATTERS, but these are just the start.
In addition to these favourites, we always have more vibrant “seasonal” tapas dishes on the menu.
Every fortnight we add new tapas dishes to the line up and swap a few off the menu.
We balance our menu with a good selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices in any given week.
Our tapas dishes are about the size of a large entree and are perfect to share.

OUR  TAPAS  FAVOURITES

PAELLA

Want to learn to cook your own?  Great – we also host Paella master-classes on Thursday nights.

CHORIZO AL SIDRA

Chorizo sauteed in Apple Cider is a traditional dish from Asturias in the north of Spain.  Sweet, salty, crisp and succulent, this cider-sauteed chorizo is one of our best selling dishes.  The spicy chorizo is perfectly complimented by the apple cider.

Served in a glazed clay “cazuela” with crusty bread – you won’t want any of the delicious juices to go to waste!

JAMON IBERICO DE BELLOTA (aka “Pata Negra”)

Jamon Iberico is the jewel in the crown of Spanish gastronomy and considered by many to be the finest cured meat in the world.  We agree.
Produced by BEHER in Salamanca, Spain it is cured for almost 3 years and bursting with delicate umami flavours.

TORTILLA DE PATATAS

This classic potato and onion omelette is eaten all over Spain and in one of the most famous and beloved national dishes.

Ask about our available flavours –traditional or with flecks of spicy chorizo. The Chorizo gives this dish a
little kick, without being too “caliente”.  Served with cherry tomatoes and dusted with Spanish paprika.

PATATAS BRAVAS / PATATAS ALI OLI

These chunky chips with zingy bravas salsa or a light garlic mayonnaise Ali Oli are a great starter and sharer.

GAMBAS AL AJILLO

These Spicy Garlic Prawns with hot guindilla chili peppers are a traditional Andalusian recipe that are para chuparse los dedos! (Spanish for finger-licking good).

Succulent prawns are served in a spicy garlic sauce that you will just have to dip your bread into!

Beware of the small but fiery peppers.  They add a huge punch of spice to the dish, but can be dangerous when devoured whole.

SMOKED WILD BOAR RIBS, SPANISH STYLE

The best smoked wild boar ribs from the Darling Downs, served sizzling hot with traditional Spanish “papas a lo pobre” and Pedro Ximenez glazed cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.

Papas a lo pobre translates as “poor man’s potatoes” and is a simple dish of slowly fried potatoes, green peppers and onions.

These smokey ribs are a filling and satisfying meal inspired by rustic Spanish cooking.

Our biggest tapas dish and still great to share.

SALMOREJO

Salmorejo is a purée consisting of tomato and bread, originating from Cordoba in Andalucia, south Spain. It is made from tomatoes, bread, oil, garlic and love.  Mucho amor.

It is a thicker version of gazpacho – old tomato soup – and is traditionally served in small terracotta bowls and garnished with chopped jamon and egg.

We don’t have this rotated onto the menu often in winter, but this is a CRACKING summer dish.  Delicious and refreshing.

REVUELTO DE MORCILLA, CON PASAS Y PIÑONES

“Morcilla” is a cured blood sausage and while the translation sometime puts Aussies off this dish, trust us, it is a delicious tapas!

The scrambled sweetness of sultanas and pine nuts provide a delicate contrast to the savoury meat.

Try this dish with one of our stronger Spanish “reserva” beers.

HUEVOS A LA FLAMENCA

Flamenco style eggs are an Andalusian classic.  Poached eggs on a bed of roasted vegetables with tomato salsa with jamon, chorizo and chunky chips.

This what you might call Spain on a plate: jamon, chorizo, pimentón, tomatoes, garlic and onion.

FABADA ASTURIANA

Fabada is a rich Spanish bean stew, originally from and most commonly found in the northern region of Asturias.

This is made with fabes (white beans in Asturian), several types of sausages and pork.

A satisfying fabada stew is the pride of Asturias and a great winter warmer.

¡puxa asturies!

JAMON & MANCHEGO BOCADILLOS

Every weekend we serve up an array of Bocadillos and Burgers.
Jamon and Manchego and a gluten free bagel may well be one of the best gluten-free burgers in Brisbane.

HUEVOS ROTOS

“Broken eggs”, served on a bed of chunky chips and served with scattered slices of crispy jamon.
Great for a late brunch or any time of day

SPANISH  DESSERTS

DESSERT – CHURROS con CHOCOLATE

4 home-made churros with thick, rich dipping chocolate.

Churros and chocolate are the one of Spain’s most traditional sweet treats.
Typically, on chilly Sunday mornings in Spain, Papa is often sent off to the local churreria to collect wheels of churros wrapped in butcher’s for all of la familia.

DESSERT – BUNUELOS

Buñuelos are a Spanish version of profiteroles which are light, fluffy and they melt in your mouth.

Each dessert has 4 Buñuelos, is served with a side of strawberries and ice cream.

Choose from these 2 flavours:

  •  Filled with fresh cream & drizzled with honey
  •  Filled with thick, decadent chocolate cream

TARTA DE SANTIAGO

Home made Almond Cake garnished with strawberries and lightly coated with icing sugar.

Originating from Galicia in North- Western Spain during the time of medieval pilgrimage, this tart is traditionally decorated with the St James cross.  Wonderfully moist almond and citrus flavours.
